This page explains how The Burrow Brief earns money from affiliate links, how you can spot them, and why they never change the advice we give about your pet.

Our disclosure, in plain words
Some links on The Burrow Brief are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
This income helps keep our guides free. It never decides which products we recommend or what we say about them.
1. What affiliate links are
An affiliate link is a special link to a product on a retailer’s website, such as a cage, bedding or a hamster wheel. The link contains a code that tells the retailer you came from The Burrow Brief. If you buy something after clicking it, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale.
You pay the same price whether you use our link or go to the retailer directly. The commission comes from the retailer, not from you.
2. How it works
- You click a product link in one of our guides.
- The retailer’s website opens, and a cookie records that you came from us.
- If you buy within the retailer’s time window, we may earn a commission.
The retailer handles your purchase, payment, delivery and returns. We never see your payment details. How retailers use cookies is explained in our Privacy Policy.
3. Affiliate programs we use
The Burrow Brief may take part in affiliate programs run by online retailers and affiliate networks that sell pet supplies.
Amazon Associates
The Burrow Brief is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
We may join other affiliate programs in the future. This disclosure applies to all of them.
4. How to spot affiliate links
Any article that contains affiliate links includes a short notice near the top, before the first link, like this:
Links to retailers, such as buttons that say “Check price” or “View on Amazon”, are usually affiliate links. Links to welfare organizations, veterinary references and research sources are never affiliate links.
5. How we choose products
We choose products the same way whether or not an affiliate program exists for them. Our recommendations are based on:
- Animal welfare guidance, such as minimum cage sizes and safe materials
- Product specifications, such as dimensions, build quality and safety features
- How suitable the product is for the specific species
- Value for money and availability
We recommend products we have no affiliate link for when they are the better choice for the animal. We also warn readers about popular products that fall below welfare guidance, even when they would earn us a commission. Our full process is explained in our Editorial Policy.
6. Free products and sponsored content
If a brand ever gives us a product for free or pays us to create content, we will say so clearly in the article. Receiving a free product does not guarantee a positive review or a place in our recommendations.
Sponsored content, if we publish any, will be clearly labeled as “Sponsored”. Brands cannot pay to change our opinions or to be included in our guides. Business inquiries can be sent to info@theburrowbrief.com.
7. Prices and availability
Prices, stock and product details on retailer websites can change at any time. The price you see on the retailer’s website at the time of purchase is the one that applies. We are not responsible for price changes, delivery, returns or product quality. Please contact the retailer directly about your order. See our Disclaimer for more.
8. Display advertising
Separately from affiliate links, The Burrow Brief shows display ads served by Google AdSense. We do not choose the individual ads you see, and an ad appearing on our website does not mean we recommend that product or company.
9. Why we disclose
We believe you have the right to know how a website earns money before you trust its advice. This disclosure also follows the rules on paid endorsements and advertising, including the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Endorsement Guides and the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) guidelines, as well as the requirements of the affiliate programs we take part in.
